In the middle of the most meandering part of the course of the Moselle, surrounded by vine-growing hills, the hospitable wine-village called Kröv is situated. Already the old Romans were impressed by this beautiful peace of earth.
They brought the wine-growing to Kröv, which shapes the village and the scenery up until today. The buildings of this ancient wine-growing culture, the old wine-yards, monastery-yards, half-timbered houses and also the numerous findings from the Roman times are still present these days.
Kröv is a meaningful wine-growing village. Because of the famous Kröver wine, the “Kröver Nacktarsch”, the village is known widely across the borders of Germany. However Kröv does not only have excellent wines, but also lots of other possibilities to offer. Since many years Kröv is one of the most popular holiday destinations at the Moselle. Due to the authenticity of Kröv, owing to the perseverance of the origin shaped by wine-growing, the real Moselle-typical flair can be experienced in this town.
Apart from the picturesque centre of the town and the attractive Moselle-promenade, in Kröv you can find a great variety of restaurants, hotels, pensions and lots of guest rooms directly at the wine-growing estate. At night the “Straußwirtschaften” and wine-cafes invite to a fun cellar-stroll.
A well-build net of hiking and biking ways, an open-air swimming pool (with heated basins, a giant slide and children’s basin), an extensive excursion programme by bus and boat, as well as interesting weekly events like hiking on the wine-lecture-path, wine-tastings, canoeing and Nordic-walking can guarantee a holiday full of experiences. Because of its central location (in the middle of the land of the Moselle) Kröv is an ideal starting point for day trips in the surroundings, like Trier, Koblenz, the Hunsrück or the crater-lakes in the Eiffel.
Of course a varied event programme cannot be missed. The highlights in the yearly event calendar of Kröv are for example the culinary spring weekend (Ascension Day), the international midnight run (Saturday before Whitsun), the international garb meeting of the Moselle (1st weekend of July) and the St. Remigius wine-fairground (1st weekend of October). From the end of August until the end of October, a wine festival is held in the “Weinbrunnenhalle” every weekend.
